About
BBC Killing For Company Minisite Named after a book about serial killer Dennis Nilsen (although there is a New South Wales band of the same name), Killing For Company is the first musical venture from Stuart Cable after his acrimonious split from Stereophonics. "When we just jam together it just feels right," he told the Western Mail newspaper. "You can't describe it really - it's either yes of no, like black or white." The band marks a return to Cable's rock roots. Its members are all from Wales - brothers Andy and Steve Williams play lead guitar and bass respectively, and singer Greg Jones was found during a talent hunt Cable did for the BBC in Cwmaman. Not content to dip a tentative toe into playing their debut live show, Cable decided to blag the band onto the bill at The Who's concert at Swansea's Liberty Stadium in June 2007. "I called up Roger Daltrey but his wife said he wasn't there. I ended up emailing him, sending him some of our songs. "I also talked to my friend Scott Gibbs at the stadium. Scott asks me if I want to go to the gig in one of the boxes and I'm like, 'No, I want to f****** play at it!'" But the legacy of his former band doesn't seem to bother Cable at this early stage. "Of course we're bound to have fans of the Stereophonics there, some out of curiosity and some because they'll just be really interested anyway," he says. "The music is different to what I did last going off with the Stereophonics. It's heavy but really anthemic. Who knows if we'll get a record deal out of it. At the moment, I just want as many people as possible to hear these songs." |
